PHIPPSBURG — Cajun band Jimmyjo & the Jumbol’ayuhs will play a hurricane relief benefit concert at Drummore Concert Hall on Rt. 209 in Phippsburg on Tuesday at 7: 15 p. m. The band plays music of southwestern Louisiana and eastern Texas, where much of the aftermath damage from Hurricane Harvey occurred. Reservations are recommended.
BRUNSWICK — On Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 1- 3 p.m. in the Morrell Meeting Room of Curtis Memorial Library, Nelia Dunbar and Bill McIntosh will discuss scientific research on volcanoes in Antarctica and insights into past and future climate change.

The Lisbon Town Council will discuss on Tuesday how to fill the vacancy in the town’s House of Representatives seat following the death last week of Rep. Gina Mason, R-Lisbon.
Mason was elected as the House District 56 representative in November 2016, replacing her cousin Rep. Dale Crafts, who was termed out of the office.
After months of work, the Bath Solid Waste Advisory Committee is preparing to present an ordinance banning single-use plastic bags and polystyrene containers, while also putting fees on paper bags.
The Greater Freeport Community Chorus, directed by Virgil Bozeman, will begin rehearsals for its winter concerts Sunday at the Freeport Performing Arts Center at Freeport High School, 30 Holbrook St.
Registration will run from 6-6:30 p.m., with rehearsal to follow. Rehearsals are held on Sundays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the FPAC.
