TURNER — Morse outscored Leavitt, 16-10 in the final quarter but came up short as the Hornets came away with a 44-36 victory in girls high school jayvee basketball action on Friday.
Leavitt held leads of 13-7, 25-11 and 34-20 at the quarter break. The Hornets were 7- for-24 from the charity stripe, while the Shipbuilders were 5-for-11.
BURLINGTON, VT — The Middlebury College ski teams continued its carnival season with a fourth-place finish at the Vermont Carnival on Friday and Saturday, highlighted by the men’s Nordic team placing three racers in the top nine to capture the men’s 10K classical race on Saturday.
LEWISTON — The University of Southern Maine men’s track and field team won three individual events Saturday night en route to a third-place finish at the Maine State Quad meet held at Bates College.
Connor McDavid scored four goals and added an assist, and the Edmonton Oilers knocked off the top team in the NHL, defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 on Monday night.
Leon Draisaitl and Iiro Pakarinen also scored for the Oilers, who have gone 5- 1-1 in their last seven.
