Outdoor Powersports

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The R10 Tech Outdoor Powersports program is intended to be a two-year program, with first-year students in Outdoor  Powersports I and second-year students in Outdoor Powersports II. 

Outdoor Powersports technicians inspect, service, and repair motorcycles, snowmobiles, and ATVs.   

Students in this course learn to use hand and power tools as well as various precision measuring instruments.  As a student, you will learn to be dependable, reliable, honest, and have a good attitude—all qualities to help you gain employment.

POWERSPORTS 1

For first-year students accepted into the program:

♦ Shop Safety & Personal Protection

♦ Four-cycle theory

♦ Two-cycle theory

♦ Tools & Equipment - identification           and proper usage

♦ Fasteners & thread repair

♦ 4-cycle Engine (top end)
   disassemble & reassemble           

♦ Oil and lubrication

♦ Carburetors & fuel systems

♦ Parts & service manuals 

POWERSPORTS 2

For second-year students accepted into the program:

Shop Safety & Personal
   Protection revisited        

Basic Electrical Theory & Hands-     on Applications

♦ Fuel Injection

♦ Ignition Systems

♦ Starting Systems

♦ Precision Measuring

♦ Transmission & Clutch

♦ Suspension Systems
