Woman alleges she was shackled in cage

PORTLAND (AP) — A Maine woman who says she was taken from Florida to Maine while shackled inside of a dog cage has filed a federal lawsuit against Maine county officials and the contracted private transportation company.

Meghan Quinn says she was arrested in Florida in 2016 on an outstanding warrant in Androscoggin County in her lawsuit filed Wednesday.

Investigators: Specific cause of Bowdoinham fire remains unknown

BOWDOINHAM

The cause of a March 27 fire that destroyed at 760 White Road will remain a mystery.

State Fire Investigator Mary MacMaster said Monday she was unable to definitely determine the origin and cause of the blaze. She did, however, say witnesses told her the fire started around the wood stove chimney.

Bath library offering babysitter training for teens, tweens

Bowdoinham Public Library celebrated books with tasty treats last week.

Community members gathered Friday to vote for their favorite entries in the library’s third annual Edible Book Festival. For the event, people picked a book and created a display that represented that book. The one catch? Everything must be edible.

Portland put together four straight, two-out hits, scoring three times in the eighth inning, but Binghamton held on for a 4-3 Eastern League win in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium.

Portland was swept in the three-game series and resumes its trip tonight in Reading.
