Maine woman dies of burns suffered in mobile home fire

KENDUSKEAG (AP) — Maine fire officials say a woman has died from burns she suffered in a fire earlier in the month.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says 60-year-old Cheryl Bassett of Kenduskeag died on Friday at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Officials say she was seriously burned in a fire in her mobile home on Nov. 15.

Police: Woman dead after getting pinned underneath car

WESLEY(AP) — Officials in Maine say a woman is dead after she was pinned underneath her car after a crash.

The Washington County Sheriff ’s Office says 26-yearold Asia Wells died at the scene of the crash in Wesley on Sunday. Investigators say Wells, a resident of East Manchias, lost control of her vehicle on Route 192.

Sheriff’s deputies looking for 4 puppies reported stolen

HANCOCK (AP) — Maine sheriff ’s deputies are looking for four pitbull puppies that were reported stolen from a home.

Jeffrey Long told police someone broke into his home in Hancock on Sunday afternoon and took four of his six puppies.

Long says his home was locked.

The puppies are 6 ? weeks old. Three are black and white and one is a brownish, tawny color.

Beaked baby boomers: Record year for puffin chicks in Maine

Puffins face existential challenges, but the little birds found a new role in Maine this summer: baby boomers.

The 2017 nesting season was the most productive on record for a group of vulnerable Maine puffins, scientists with the Audubon Society said. The Atlantic puffins are small seabirds with an awkward walk and colorful beaks that are popular with eco-tourists.
