Eagles to hold benefit car wash

The Mt. Ararat High School girls soccer program is scheduled to hold a benefit car wash at Tire Warehouse at the Topsham Fair Mall on Saturday.

The car wash benefits the family of Gardiner soccer player Taby Hembree, who was injured last week in a car crash on the way to school and later died from her injuries.

Polar Bears edge USM in volleyball

BRUNSWICK

The Bowdoin College women’s volleyball team survived a five-set scare from the University of Southern Maine in its season debut on Wednesday evening, collecting a 3-2 triumph.

The Polar Bears (1-0) claimed the win by the score of 22-25, 25-14, 25-20, 24-26, 15-9. Southern Maine (3-1) suffered its first defeat of the young campaign.

RICHMOND — Zain Theodore Charles Swan was born without a heartbeat on Aug. 31, 2017, at 12:46 p.m. Born at 35 weeks, he weighed 4 pounds, 0.9 ounces and was 17 inches long.

Zain was the cherished son Daniel and Arlene (Rand) Swan and beloved brother to Dakota and Caleb McArthur, Landon, Gracia and Elissia Swan.
