Model railroading at Boothbay Railway Village

BOOTHBAY — If you can't make it to the Maine Model Railroad Tour on Saturday, there's always a chance to see model railroading at the Boothbay Railway Village.

The museum's Model Railroad Exhibit includes an HO scale layout measuring 46-by-20 feet with 600 feet of track, representing Maine railroading in the 1950s- '60s.

Leishman leads BMW Championship

LAKE FOREST, Ill.

Marc Leishman left his golf clubs in his garage during his week break from the FedEx Cup playoff and it didn’t change anything. He made 10 birdies in the opening round of the BMW Championship for a 9-under 62 to build a two-shot lead.

Jason Day made the biggest change of his career and had a 64, his best start in 16 months.

The Boston Red Sox activated left-hander David Price on Thursday and plan to use him out of the bullpen.

Price went on the 10-day disabled list July 28 with an inflamed elbow. Manager John Farrell said Thursday he looked good in two simulated games.

Eagles earn 2-0 JV field hockey win

BANGOR — Annie Wilkins put Mt. Ararat ahead as the Eagles came away with a 2-0 field hockey victory in high school jayvee action on Tuesday against Bangor.

Gracie Morrell assisted on Wilkins’ goal, and Brynn Charron doubled Mt. Ararat’s lead off a pass from Olivia Valliancourt with 13:07 left until halftime.

Jaques received the league’s Rookie of the Week award after finishing third overall and first on his squad in a team victory at the Stonitsch Invitational recently.
