Talk on welcoming immigrants in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK — Sanctuary Brunswick will hold a forum having Brunswick becoming a community “offering sanctuary to immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers,” according to the organization. The event will take place Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Middle Street.

More Landing homes possible

More housing could be coming to the former Brunswick Naval Air Station.

The planning board will hold a hearing and vote on plans for a new subdivision at Brunswick Landing on Oct. 3.

The board will review a plan to build multi-family units in an area originally built for Navy housing when the base was active.

Following a week-long contract extension, Bath Iron Works and the Bath Marine Draftsmen’s Association averted a planned strike by reaching an agreement on a new, multi-year contract that will continue through March 2022.
