2.9% increase eyed in Freeport

Town Manager Peter Joseph and Finance Director Jessica Maloy are scheduled to present the operating and 2018-19 tax increment financing budget to councilors tonight.

The town is proposing $10 million in spending, a $295,393 or 2.9 percent increase that would increase taxes by $32,643.

Topsham store recalls ground beef

Hannaford’s Topsham location says some of its lean ground beef purchased last week could have metal fragments in it and should not be eaten.

According to a Friday news release, packages of the 80 percent lean ground beef purchased at the store Monday, April 23 with an April 24 sell-by date, “may contain metal fragments that should not be consumed.”

Morse JV girls lax wins second

BATH — The Morse High School girls jayvee lacrosse team held on for a 7-4 victory over Oceanside on Thursday.

The Shipbuilders are 2-0 on the season.

Kylie Grendell and Nichole Brazee had two goals for Morse, with Mary Larochelle, Eliza McKenney and Veronica Prager adding a goal each. Brazee chipped in an assist.
