Ex-Mountie who smuggled narwhal tusks to be sentenced

BANGOR (AP) — A retired Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer accused of smuggling narwhal tusks across the border is due to be sentenced for money laundering.

Prosecutors say Gregory Logan, of St. John, New Brunswick, smuggled 250 tusks valued at $1.5 million to $3 million into Maine in false compartments in his vehicle.

Freeport Conservation Trust to celebrate 40th anniversary

Harpswell man pleads guilty to stealing guns

A Harpswell man pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court to theft of firearms from a federally licensed firearms dealer.

According to court records, on Jan. 3, Hyunkook Korsiak, 36, stole firearms from C&R Trading Post at 657 Old Portland Road in Brunswick.

Man killed in I-295 crash

State Police say a man was killed Tuesday night in a two car crash on Interstate 295 in Falmouth.

The rear end collision took place at approximately 7 p.m. in the northbound lanes by exit 10. Troopers said the man who died was driving a car that was struck from behind by a second vehicle.
