BATH — The Morse High School girls jayvee team fell to Lincoln Academy, 3-1, in recent action.

Trailing 1-0, Zoe Sreden tied the game for the Shipbuilders.

The Eagles managed two more goals down the stretch to pull out the victory.

BRUNSWICK — Portia Woestman and Siara Ambs each had a pair of goals to help lift Brunswick over Morse in girls high school jayvee soccer Tuesday.

In cold, damp conditions, Lila Solberg, Rae Bamberger, Lexi Guptil and Katherine Hartnett each tallied scores for the Dragons.

Lizzy Koval, Woestman, Solbert and Bamberger each racked up assists in the victory.

TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat High School boys jayvee soccer team was edged, 3-2 by Camden Hills recently.

Eli Ouellette scored the Eagles’ first goal off a pass from Tristan Zell. Thomas Davison tallied the second goal with an assist from Jacob Sargent.

Strong play from Nathan Taylor, Nathan Kofroth and Riley Gilson kept Mt. Ararat in the game.

Arizona Supreme Court says gays get equal parental rights

The Arizona Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that a lesbian woman who is divorcing her spouse is entitled to equal parental rights under the U.S. Constitution, even though a state law doesn’t recognize those rights.

The ruling from the state’s highest court said U.S. Supreme Court precedent requires same-sex couples be afforded the same rights as straight couples.

Richard F. Lieke Jr. was born in New York City on April 8, 1925, to Frances and Richard F. Lieke Sr. and had two sisters, Viola and Joan. In 1950, he married Evelyn B. Hallett of New Brunswick, Canada and they remained together for 67 years. He passed away on September 1, 2017, at the age of 92.
