The Topsham Public Library hosted author and television host Andrew Och Thursday night to talk about his time studying the country’s first Ladies. Och spent more than a year traveling the nation, visiting locations that would help tell the stories of each First Lady of the United States.

Man, dog fine after camper van ignites

The owner of a small camper van and his dog are safe after their vehicle was consumed in a fire in a Brunswick parking lot on Thursday morning.

The man was inside the Goodwill store at 21 Gurnet Road when the van ignited just before 10:30 a.m.

Public to weigh in on overnight vendor parking on Mall

The public can soon have its say on whether food trucks can park overnight on the Brunswick Mall.

The town council will convene a hearing Monday on the proposal.

Food truck vendors are allowed to park overnight only six times during the season, but say changing the town’s ordinance will be an added convenience.

Freeport’s L.L. Bean raises age to 21 to purchase rifles

Outdoor retailer L.L. Bean will no longer sell rifles to anyone under 21.

The company joined retail heavyweights Walmart and Dick’s Sporting Goods in changing policies in the wake of the Florida school massacre.

L.L. Bean said in a statement late Thursday that it will no longer sell guns or ammunition to anyone under the age of 21.
