China says fire in sacred Tibetan monastery not arson

Chinese authorities have ruled out arson as the cause of a fire that damaged a 1,300-year-old monastery that is considered the spiritual heart of Tibetan Buddhism.

Saturday’s fire at the Jokhang in the center of the Tibetan capital, Lhasa, burned an area of about 538 square feet, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

I read about their too-short lives, gunned down on Valentine’s Day by a violent and mentally disturbed young man who should have never been allowed access to a gun. And I was shocked to discover my own name there.
