Officers responded to a call from a woman who heard noises from her basement and reported that her dog was barking aggressively at the noise.

Santa makes ‘naughty’ comment to shopper

BANGOR (AP) — The police in Bangor, Maine, say they’ve gotten a complaint about a department store “bad Santa” who apparently wasn’t working there.

Police posted on Facebook on Thursday that a woman walking around the store with her daughter recently was approached by a man dressed as Santa, who handed out a candy cane.

Amazon abandons Maine pharmaceuticals wholesaler effort

Library may add cameras to stop sexual behavior

WESTBROOK (AP) — A local Maine library is upgrading its surveillance cameras to deter sexually inappropriate behavior.

The Kennebec Journal reports the Westbrook City Council approved the purchase of 11 new high quality cameras for the Walker Memorial Library earlier this week. The library currently uses a few analog cameras.

Gov. Paul LePage reiterated Thursday he will not seek a U.S. Senate seat next year, calling the speculation “fake news.”

LePage repeatedly used the term when asked about a Washington Post report that quotes an anonymous White House adviser saying President Donald Trump wants the fellow Republican to run against independent Sen. Angus King.

Firefighters save Lisbon house

LISBON

Lisbon firefighters were able to stop a fire in the basement of a Douglas Street house before the building was destroyed Wednesday evening.

Firefighters responded to the home at the corner of Free and Douglas streets after it was reported there was smoke coming from the second floor windows, according to a post on the Lisbon Fire Department Facebook page.

Bath Council bans parking on portion of Pearl Street

Three people were arrested Sunday night after an Androscoggin Sheriff's deputy pulled over a car that police say was reported stolen.

According to Chief Deputy William Gagne, a gray Saturn was reported stolen earlier in the day by the Lewiston police.
