Winds churn Calif. wildfires

VENTURA, Calif.

The same vicious winds that turned three Southern California wildfires into destructive dynamos were also making the firefight more difficult.

The water-dropping planes and helicopters essential to taming and containing wildfires have been mostly grounded because it’s too dangerous to fly them in the strong wind. Tuesday saw gusts of over 50 mph.

WISCASSET — Madelyn A. Anderson, 88, of the Gardiner Road, Wiscasset died peacefully in her sleep with her family, friends and nurses by her side, Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Miles Memorial Hospital.

Madelyn was born, November 26, 1929 in Bath, Maine, the second daughter of Lester A. Savoie and Irene Place Savoie. Madelyn married William F. Anderson on February 14, 1948.

Well the town of Wiscasset, in all their near-sighted wisdom is filing a lawsuit against the Maine Department of Transportation to stop a program that would help alleviate some of the state’s worst traffic.

Search ongoing for missing woman

SKOWHEGAN (AP) — Maine law enforcement officials are searching a property in Skowhegan as they look for a woman who has been missing for six months.

State Police, Skowhegan police and the Maine Warden Service focused Tuesday on a home and an adjacent wooded area in the search for 40-yearold Tina Stadig.

Police charge runaway with breaking into summer homes

BELGRADE (AP) — State police in Maine say a 17-yearold runaway boy was arrested after breaking into summer homes, one of which he was living in.

Police say eight seasonal homes had been broken into in Belgrade along Messalonskee Lake. They say they found the teenager inside one of them and took him into custody.

Woman admits to break-in that scared woman to death

BELFAST (AP) — A Maine woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after a home invasion victim was literally scared to death.

Belfast officials say 37-yearold Tara Shibles pleaded guilty in a deal with the state for a 10-month jail sentence. WABI-TV reports Shibles apologized in court Monday, saying she never meant to hurt anyone.
